Checking Clinics Completed for Mid Isle WildcatsAll players in PEI, male and female, are required to attend a checking clinic in both years of U13 (2012, 2011) and first year of U15 (2010). This includes players playing in non-checking leagues, male and female players. Our 2009 players also participated in our checking clinics as a refresher and for development.
Our goalies were also able to have a development session with Troy Peters at the same time.
While these are called "checking" clinics, players learned proper positioning and angling, stick checks, and developed contact confidence. Player safety and respect for opposing players was also discussed, while emphasizing the importance of playing and staying within the rules of the game.
Players playing at the AA and AAA level are not permitted to play in any games, including pre-season exhibition games, until they have attended a checking clinic.
